Azam & Rai Partner appointed Consultant to the World Bank for its 'Doing Business Report'

Mr. R.M.S. Azam, Partner, was appointed Consultant to the World Bank for an assignment with the Investment Climate Department and participated in the Doing Business Report jointly prepared by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation, Washington D.C. – a task assigned only to the most competent and leading lawyers of any given country. The Pakistan aspect of this project has been undertaken by only a handful of reputable lawyers from a select group of leading Pakistani law firms. The Doing Business Database provides indicators of the cost of doing business by identifying specific regulations that enhance or constrain business investment, productivity, and growth and provides objective measures of business regulations and their enforcement. The Doing Business indicators are comparable across 145 economies and are developed by the Private Sector Vice Presidency of the World Bank Group in cooperation with Lex Mundi association of leading law firms, the International Bar Association and Yale University's International Institute for Corporate Governance.

Azam, Partner, participated in a seminar on “SME Development: Myths & Realities” held under the auspices of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), Government College University (GCU), the British Council and the Lahore Chapter of the British Alumni Association at GCU, Lahore on 30 July 2004.

Azam & Rai established

Azam & Rai is co-founded by Rai Muhammad Saleh Azam and Maliha Sarda Azam on 1 February 2004. Prior to establishing Azam & Rai, both the co-founders were Associates at two of the leading law firms of Pakistan - Mr. R.M.S. Azam, was an Associate at Walker Martineau Saleem, Advocates & Legal Consultants, Lahore and Ms. Maliha Azam was an Associate at Raja Muhammad Akram & Co., Advocates & Legal Consultants, Lahore.
